In the last years, the number of surrogacies has increased beyond. Many people believe that this is related to our habit to have children late in life, once some mothers cannot carry out a pregnancy to the end anymore. Even back in 2012, this industry was worth $6 billion. Yet, this amount is not specific since many of these cases was not treated legally.
What happens if my child is born handicapped?
The factors of the physical development of a fetus must be stipulated in a contract. Mostly, the clients have to pay the whole amount even if your child is born with some type of medical condition. This mostly occurs when a surrogate mother has outdone her obligations and the pathology of a fetus is by accident.
Is it true or false that surrogate mothers are mostly women with low income?
Surrogate mothers are mostly poor and financially disadvantaged women. Surrogacy could significantly increase their quality of life. For instance, this is the amount of payment in different countries in the world:
USA – California: $60,000
Ukraine: $23,000
Russia: $15,000
Women who are going throughout a financial struggle could be assured with high compensation. Sadly, the agencies that line up the contracts with future parents, are able in fact, to refuse to pay women her rights. Although, this rarely happens. Most of the agencies insist that women firmly must follow every clause signed in the contract.

If a surrogate mother does not want to give you the child, would it be taken by force?
The answer to this question can only depend on the country where this situation will be taking place. For instance in Russia, a new citizen must be registered in the civil registry office. Then the surrogate mother is obligated to sign the documents giving her parental rights to her clients. Thus, if she changes her mind after the documents have been already signed, the child would be taken by force since the customers are officially his or her biological parents. And if she refuses to sign, she would become the child’s official parent and the child would not be taken away from the mother.
What will happen if neither the biological parents nor the surrogate mother do not want to take the child?
Sadly, in this case the child would be sent to an orphanage. Thus, this process could take such a long time. Authorities would have to decide who the child actually belongs to, in which city he or she will stay, and it goes on. In case the biological parents are foreigners, the newborn could be hung in legal issues if none of the countries wants to acknowledge him or her as their citizen.
Why are some women want to give birth to a stranger’s child for free?
Usually, when women do not want to get paid for giving birth to a stranger’s child, it is called the altruistic surrogacy. This phenomenon is pretty typical in Canada where it is forbidden to pay any money to surrogate mothers.
Conclusion:
Overall, giving away a child for free is obviously, way more ethical than selling him or her.
Although, some people think of surrogacy as a business venture. Yet, criticism of surrogacy is very common. In the feminist community for instance, some people believe that it is some type of exploitation of the female body.
